The enemy has tried to stop the project through discouragement and internal corruption. Now the enemy uses distraction to stall the vision from being completely. The enemy will use opportunities, criticism, and fear to distract you from fulfilling a God given vision.

In Nehemiah 5 we see that the greatest threat to the rebuilding of the wall was not an outside enemy, but division and injustice within God’s own people. The wealthy were exploiting the poor, creating strife and weakening the work of God. Nehemiah confronted this sin with courage, calling the people to align their actions with God’s Word. He did not just speak with authority, he lived with integrity, refusing to take advantage of his position. His moral authority gave weight to his leadership and inspired the people to repent and restore what was broken.

This passage reminds us that true influence comes when our lives are aligned with God’s truth. Moral authority is not about title or position but about living in such a way that our words and our walk match. The church today must embody this same alignment, so that the gospel is not hindered by division or hypocrisy, but displayed through integrity, justice, and love.

Anytime God asks you to do something meaningful, criticism and opposition are sure to follow. Nehemiah and the people of God faced ridicule, intimidation, and discouragement as they sought to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. That opposition was designed to discredit them and derail the vision God had placed before them. Yet Nehemiah shows us a blueprint for how to respond, with prayer, perseverance, and persistence in the work. In this message, we’ll learn how to stand firm against opposition, silence the voices of discouragement, and continue the good work God has called us to accomplish.

Rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem was no small task, it was overwhelming, even impossible for one person to accomplish alone. But when God’s people came together, shoulder to shoulder, each doing their part, the vision became reality. In Nehemiah 3, we see a powerful blueprint for how God mobilizes His people to work together for His glory. That same call rests on the church today: if we are to reach a broken world with the gospel, it will take every one of us being all in.

This week, we look at Nehemiah 2, where Nehemiah courageously makes the “big ask” before the king, sees firsthand the brokenness of Jerusalem, and rallies the people to join him in rebuilding. In this pivotal moment, Nehemiah reminds us that when God is with us, no task is too great. Come be encouraged to see the vision God has placed before you and to join in the good work He has called us to do together.
