The Jews very studied and prepared for the messiah developed a system to know who the messiah would be. Even though Jesus fulfilled all of their tests they still rejected him and committed the unpardonable sin. After seeking more evidence from Jesus, he said no other signs would be given except for the sign of Jonah.
